For over a decade, Citi FM as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the Easter Orphan Project, has helped the wards of some orphanages in the country including the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage located at Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region.

Established in 1999, the orphanage is headed by Reverend Victor Ofori-Amoah, and over the years, Ghana’s leading English-speaking radio station, Citi FM, and its listeners, have donated some desks and bunk beds to the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage.

The station and its listeners also built a Skills and Resource Training  Centre for the students to equip them with skills in vocations such as masonry, hairdressing, carpentry among others.

Beneficiaries of the project

Since its inception, past students of BASCO like Paul Adjartey have benefited from the Easter Orphan Project. He spent 13 years at the orphanage, and has completed Senior High School and is awaiting entry to the University.

In the meantime, he has returned to BASCO, to teach Mathematics and Science in one of the Form three class.

Why you should support the Easter Orphan project

Jennifer Anane-Nsiah, Human Resource Manager at Citi FM, and also head of the station’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes, spoke about the challenges that confront BASCO.

“There are a number of challenges confronting BASCO.  As at now, they have just one bore hole which serves the whole school. The students also need exercise books, teaching and learning materials among others. Easter is a time for reflection so we entreat all of you to bless these young ones with your donations. Either in cash or otherwise.”
