The Bureau of Public Safety has called on government to formulate safety guidelines to guide revelers and holiday makers as being done in the road sector.

“There should be speed limit for jet skis and boats on the various water bodies”, the Executive Secretary of the Bureau, Nana Yaw Akwada told Citi News.

His call follows suspicions that Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Theophilus Tagoe, known in showbiz as ‘Castro Da Destroyer’ and his female friend Janet Bandu both drowned while jet skiing on the Volta Lake in Ada on Sunday.

A search party headed by personnel from the Marine Police Unit has been searching for the pair since the incident happened on Sunday without any success.

Speaking to Citi News, Akwada said the government’s responsible agency and the “Marine Police should be able to demarcate dangerous areas on water bodies to show no go areas for holiday makers”.

“It is not difficult to do. It is just about mounting floatable devices across the lake,” Akwada added.

He however called on holiday makers and operators of resorts and other sites to be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
