Continuing students of the St. Charles Senior High School in Tamale in the Northern Region have been sent home following fire that gutted the school’s Boys dormitory.

The school authorities in consultation with the Northern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) arrived at the decision after assessing the magnitude of the disaster.

The school’s head teacher, Polycarp Kuusokub Beyelle, announced that the over 500 affected students are to resume their academic work on March 28.

He urged parents to adequately prepare the affected students to return to school and continue the curriculum.

According to him, the school management will readjust the timetable and make it flexible for the affected final year students to make amends and prepare for their examination.

Polycarp Beyelle appealed to organizations and philanthropists to support the school management overcome the emergency situation.

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Haroun Cambodia, promised the school authority 100 student mattresses.

He tasked the Tamale Metro and Sagnarigu district directorate of education to assist the school management.

The cause of the inferno is yet to be established as the Fires Service is investigating it.
