A second-year science student of the Koforidua Senior Technical School, is reported to have died after leaving school without permission on Saturday evening.

It is reported that, the student, Nicholas Oteng, after breaking bounds to attend an event at Liberty Vocational Institute, which is about a 10-minute walk away from the school, decided to spend the night with some friends at their hostel for fear of being caught by school authorities when he returns.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, the headmaster of the school, Samuel Prince Folley, said the student’s absence was noted after a roll call.

According to him, “We heard that some students had broken bounds so we quickly organized to conduct a roll call to know those involved and it was after the roll call that we got to know that the student was out of the school.”

He added that, “it was just Monday morning that we had the information from his colleagues at the hostel where he slept that he had an attack and could not survive after he was taken to the hospital.”

Citi News gathered that, later that night, Nicholas Oteng, who is believed to have a history with Pneumonia, had an attack, but his friends failed to send him to the hospital.
