A man believed to be in his early 30s was found bare-chested on a Monday morning hanging dead on a neem tree at the Ashaiman irrigation development site.

Residents in the area who spoke to Citi News, said the man was found hanging on the tree Monday morning when some of them woke up to attend to nature’s call in a nearby bush.

The Assembly member for the Nii Doku Electoral Area, Yusif Gariba, noted that “it was around 6:00am that I was called by one of the watchdog committee members in the area that a young man believed in his thirties has allegedly committed suicide on a neem tree at the Jericho Agric park.”

“So I rushed in quickly to see things for myself and indeed it was true. When I got there, I tried getting some of the area guys to identify the person but unfortunately, none of them could identify the face so I suspect he is not from the area, but rather he just came to commit the act here”

The Assembly member added that, he would lodge a formal complaint at the Lebanon police station at Ashaiman., for the body to be conveyed to the Tema General Hospital mortuary.

There have been a series of reported suicides in recent times, with many raising concerns about the need to pay attention to pay attention to mental health issues and depression.[contextly_sidebar id=”y19UCjsMbLIukT0OkX5X9DUnrl7IqyWH”]
