German goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, has indicated that the “Mannschaft” will have to improve on their performance from their previous four games at the tournament if they are to beat France in their quarter final encounter.

According to him their current output as a team isn’t worthy of winning them the World Cup.

“We are not a hundred percent satisfied with the way we have played we also have to consider that the times when we have won this World Cup we have done so deservedly.

“Some things haven’t worked well and our style of football has been far from perfect, but nevertheless we finished all of our games but one  as winners and that is key,” he said.

The Schalke keeper also took time to comment on his role as a sweeper in the round of 16 game against Switzerland.

According to him the timing must be perfect whenever he comes out to clear a ball while admitting he understood the risks involved in making such a move but wanted to help out his team in what ever way possible.

“I know i must not be late when I rush out of my goal not even a split second, I am aware of that, I take the risk of committing a foul and sometimes even a red card.

“I try to judge the situation correctly i try to help the other players, that is my game and my style of play and so far its always worked well,”he said.

Germany finished top of Group G which also had Portugal, the  Black Stars and the United States.

The quarter final encounter against France will take place at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio De Janeiro.
