The Brong Ahafo wing of the National Service Persons Association (NASPA) is putting in place procedures to expand the National Service Scheme (NSS) Maize Farm Project at Wenchi in the region.

The association donated farm logistics and other materials worth over GHC 5, 000 to the farm project.

NASPA is an association of fresh graduates at post under the National Service Scheme (NSS).

There are about 80,000 personnel currently deployed to public and private sectors in rural and urban centers across the country to serve.

According to NASPA, the maize farming project will motivate service personnel to give off their best during the yearly service period.

Organizing Secretary of the Brong Ahafo National Service Persons Association, Martin Mprah, in an interview with Citi News stated that the expansion of the farm project would also enhance the capacity of personnel.

“The farm project is one of the biggest projects of the National Service. We see the project to be one of the biggest projects that in the near future can actually sustain the service”, he said.

Mr. Mprah also stated that the decision to donate to the project is because agriculture is a major contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.

He noted that “every year when service personnel go to the farm, it will help them establish themselves.”
