The prosecutions in the case where two suspects are standing trial before a magistrate court for the murder of former Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North constituency, Joseph Bokaye Danquah-Adu have failed once again to bring the bill of indictment for the two in order for full trial to begin.
This comes at a time when the family of the deceased have expressed regret at the slow pace at which the trial is being conducted.
[contextly_sidebar id=”YEZdiqrOL24KNDTGj05opm2tOnOPdDuT”]The two suspects, Daniel Asiedu and Vicent Dosso Booso have been in police custody for the past 12 months awaiting a bill of indictment and the summary of evidence to prove their link to the murder of the late MP.
This has resulted in a delay in the commencement of a full trial.
Explaining their reasons for the inability to bring the bill indictment despite an order by the court during the last hearing of the case, the prosecution, led by Superintendent Francis Baah told the court that the document was in its finishing stages and is expected to be served on the relevant parties soon.
The two suspects are standing trial over the death of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region.
Asiedu has been slapped with the charge of murder while Bosso faces the charge of abetment of robbery contrary to his earlier charge of conspiracy to murder.
In the case of Vincent Booso, the prosecution held that at about 1:00 am on February 9, this year at Shaishie, East Legon in Accra, he abetted Daniel Asiedu to commit murder.
Daniel, according to the prosecution, on the same day and time intentionally and unlawfully caused the death of the MP.
‘Justice for JB Danquah Adu slow’
Meanwhile, Ivy Danquah-Adu, the wife of the late MP has expressed worry over the delay in prosecuting her late husband’s supposed killers.
The widow said the delay is akin to injustice.
Speaking to Citi News on the sidelines of a ceremony to observe one year of the MP’s death, Ivy Danquah-Adu said the immediate family is still pained by cold murder of the late legislator.
‘JB Danquah Adu stabbed to death’
The former Abuakwa North MP was stabbed to death on the dawn of February 9, 2016 at his Shiashie residence in Accra.
Two days after his murder, the Accra Regional Police Command, led by COP Dr George A. Dampare, led an operation to arrest a suspect who allegedly confessed to committing the crime.
The prime suspect, Daniel Asiedu, a teenager, is currently facing trial before an Accra Magistrate court in the case that has been ongoing for almost almost a year.
