Akufo-Addo congratulates new German President

Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo has congratulated Frank-Walter Steinmeier on his election as the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

He has also wished him luck through the course of his tenure of office.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zdzUas9mnF7W19wAWPdaQSCA9tkyPYH7″]Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a former foreign minister was elected the 12th person to hold the ceremonial post on Sunday 12th February, 2017 in post war Germany.

He won 931 out of the 1,260 valid votes cast by the members of the Federal Assembly, which is made up of 630 federal members of parliament and an equal number of delegates from 16 states.

President Akufo-Addo in  a statement issues on Tuesday said he recall with fondness, his time as Foreign Affairs Ministers with the new President.

“I recall, with fondness, our time as Foreign Affairs Ministers of our respective countries, and the good collaboration and partnership we forged, which enabled our two countries develop further areas of co-operation for the benefit of our two peoples.”

He also, said, “I wish President Steinmeier and the German people the very best of luck throughout the course of his tenure of office, and in the years to come. ”

“It is my hope that the strong relations between Germany and Ghana will be deepened, and grow from strength to strength.”
