A disgruntled member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Otitto Alchuliwor is threatening to sue the party over what he says is an unfair treatment meted out to him at the party’s recent regional elections.

Mr. Alchuliwor who picked up nomination forms to contest as a representative of the Region to the party’s National Council says his competitors were favoured in the election by the Regional Executives.

He accused the Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama of failing to maintain neutralilty in facilitating the process but rather masterminded his downfall.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Alchuliwor narrated that while he was trying to complete his endorsement, he discovered the Regional Chairman and his executive committee members were in Navrongo pleading passionately with the delegates to vote for some particular aspiring members of the party.

“In addition, they had taken it upon themselves to carry along the nomination forms of these three aspirants to the delegates to endorse for them. What a bias, what indecency,” Mr.  Alchuliwor added.

Mr Alchuliwor has therefore given the National party executive an ultimatum till July 4 to nullify the confirmed persons to the National Council of Elders and open new nominations.

Mr. Alchuwilor also threatened to drag the party to court and enforce that the right thing is done if the party refuses to heed to his concerns.

“I am calling on National Chairman, Paul Afoko and his executive committee to annul the election as it was fraught with indecent manipulations, malpractices and irregularities. If they fail to do this, by next Friday I will have no option than to let the court do so.”
