Some members of the NPP in Ashaiman have cautioned the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP, Ishmael Ashitey to desist from any attempt to impose an MCE on them.

The members drawn from various communities in Ashaiman noted that, there are allegations flying around town that the Regional Party executives are sharing the various positions among themselves.

At a mini protest which was staged at Tulaku, Abdallah Yusif, a scrap dealer noted that they will stage series of protest to reject any candidate that is brought to Ashaiman from the region.

“We will not allow those at the top to come and fight with us for positions at the constituency level. We have all toiled for the party and so we must also be allowed to choose a leader who can come and help us.”

Mr Yusif said “now that Ishmael Ashitey has been elevated to the position of a Regional Minister, he should focus on his new appointment and not interfere in our matters. He should do the right thing so that we shall accord him the right respect as a Regional leader”

Another member of the party also called on the Party to appoint a competent candidate who has worked for the party and has the entire trust of the people of Ashaiman as MCE.

“There are candidates who are been sponsored by some NDC executives in Ashaiman and must be condemned since it would not innure well to the benefit of our party. The incoming MCE must come and investigate the past administration since we suspect heavy corrupt practices under the erstwhile NDC administration so if a candidate who has the financial support from the NDC is appointed, how can he or she investigate the old administration,”he noted

The group hinted of massive demonstration should the wrong candidate be named as MCE for Ashaiman.
