The founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, popularly known for his controversial miracles in healing the sick, was absent in court today [Friday], in the case where he is facing trial for flogging two teenagers in open church for having premarital sex.

Bishop Daniel Obinim who was expected at a circuit court in Accra over a charge of physical abuse, contrary to section 4 of the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) Act ,did not appear after his lawyers claimed that he fell ill in the early hours of Friday morning.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3pbV543M7eJfYrkX4ztZC33mQWGM037D”]The pastor was arraigned with two others who have been charged with abetment.

Bishop Obinim was captured in a widely circulated video in 2016, flogging two teenagers in open church for having premarital sex leading to pregnancy.

The two, who are alleged to be his adopted children, were restrained by the two aides in church as he flogged them.

The Circuit Court after hearing the reasons for the absence of the bishop, ordered him to provide a copy of the medical report proving he was sick.

The prosecution in the case asked for  an adjournment  indicating that, they had received additional information on the assault by the two victims.
