NPP elects new National Council members

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has completed the election of regional representatives to its National Council.

The election which took place across the country over the weekend saw some party stalwarts retain their positions in the Council.

The elections come on the back of a suit filed by a former constituency Chairman for Central Tongu challenging the constitutionality of the National Council.

The greater Accra region had former mayor of Accra, Stanley Nii Adri Blankson, Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway and former Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Professor Michael Oquaye and the Regional Chairman Ismeal Ashiety and Regional Secretary Adjei Sowah as representatives to the  National Council.

The Ashanti Region, party founding member, Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffour retained his position on the Council.

Former Deputy Attorney- General Kwame Osei Prempeh and former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah were also elected to the Council

Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wuntomi and his Secretary Samuel Payne were also elected.

The Brong Ahafo Region former National Chairman Aspirant, Steve Ayensu Ntim former Member of Parliament for Tachieman North, Professor Akumfi Ameyaw and party stalwarts Ama Amponsah and Alhaji Ali Maiga got elected.

The Central Region elected former Minister of Private Sector Development under the Kufour administration, Kwamena Bartels and Regional Secretary Kwamena Duncan and some other party stalwarts.

The Northern Region presented seven names including Regional Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu, Regional Secretary Sule Salifu and Regional First Vice Hajia Samata as representatives of the region.

The upper West Region elected Alhaji Bin Salih, Mr. Bright Baligi as well as the Regional Chairman and his secretary as representatives.
