“I heard a lot about Lorient from mainly Pedrinho ( a former Lorient player and currently of Rio Ave) and Majeed Waris who is a good friend. They said good things about the club and I am happy to be here.”

“Playing in France was a huge targe for me and getting to achieve that is a real pleasure. We have a huge challenge to handle and keep this club in Ligue 1. We have what is takes to do that and I will do all to let us meet our aim.”

Having gained attention following a very good with Rio Ave, the Ghanaian has been courted by several clubs in Europe but Lorient, who are fighting for their lives in the French league, have secured his signature.

Alhassan played in 28 games last season and was viewed by many as Rio Ave’s best player. The midfielder joined Rio Ave permanently from three Portimonense and has been worth all the money since his arrival.
