The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has endorsed an earlier list submitted to the national secretariat for approval as representation on the National Council.

The decision was an alternative of holding election to elect representation on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Council,

At a special meeting in Tamale, leadership of the party from the 31 constituencies in the Northern Region unanimously endorsed a list of seven to represent the region on the National Council.

The list comprised four regional executive members including the regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu who is an automatic member, first vice Chairperson, Hajia Samata, second vice Chairperson, Alhaji Sunday and the regional Secretary, Sule Salifu.

The other three non- executive members are a former District Chief Executive for Bole, Salamatu Forgor, Alhaji Aminu Amadu, a founder father of the NPP in the Northern Region and Wiston Binabiba.

The NPP regional Communications Director, Mohammed Abdul Kudus in a Citi News interview said the decision was in compliance with a directive by the party’s national secretariat to hold regional elections to elect the nominees in line with Article 7 clause 15.

He described the overwhelming endorsement as a representation of the interest groups within the NPP in the Northern Region.

Mohammed Abdul Kudus said scarce resources meant for holding election to elect the nominees will be channeled into other party activities.

Some of the Regional Executive Committee members told Citi News they were satisfied with the decision taken.

They called for unity as panacea to wrestle power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.
