Pressure Group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), has described as ‘window shopping’ the recent reshuffle by the President.
The President, John Mahama on Saturday announced the re-assignment of Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and his Deputy, Joseph Yammin.
Mr. Ankrah moves to the Presidency as a Minister of State while Yammin moves to the Ashanti Region as Deputy Regional Minister.
The re-assignment comes on the back of the Black Stars abysmal performance at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Operations for AFAG, Abu Ramadan said the President must let Elvis Afriyie Ankrah account for every penny spent in Brazil before taking his new post.
He was fully convinced that Ghanaians will appreciate it if a detailed account is given on happenings in Brazil.
According to him, Afriyie Ankrah’s incompetence has been exposed therefore, it raises a lot of questions as to why he was re-assigned and not dismissed entirely.
He asked: “What business has Elvis Afriyie Ankrah got doing with the President that the President can’t let him leave government?”
Mr. Ramadan said his re-assignment will only give him the platform “to continue this sort of attitude and incompetence.”
The AFAG executive told Citi News, President Mahama is losing sight of his priorities and the vital things which worry Ghanaians.
“When the country is in crisis and the country needs a solution, the President comes to give appointment that has absolutely nothing to do with the crisis we are facing,” he remarked.
