A two day temporary ban has been imposed on the use motorbikes in Bimbila township beginning Thursday June 26, 2014.
This forms part of strict security measures put in place to curtail any disturbances before, during and after the burial of the late Bimbila Naa Dasana Andani II who was murdered on June 19, 2014 at his palace in Bimbila.
Citi News gathered that the Bimbila police and army commanders under whose watch the heinous crime was committed have been relieved off their duties.
Together with the District Chief Executive for Nanumba North, Alhaji Ibn Abass, they are being investigated by National Security.
A source close to the one of the sides of the chieftaincy divide in Bimbila on grounds of anonimity told Citi News the late Nakpaa Naa Salifu’s family secured court injunction on the burial of the murdered Bimbila chief.
This was after their news conference in Accra where they kicked against the murdered Bimbila chief’s burial as the overlord of the Nanung tradtional araea.
Early Thursday June 26 morning, family members, sympathizers and well wishers of the murdered Bimbila Naa Andani gathered at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Morgue where the body was to be released to the family heads for burial in line with best traditional practices in Bimbila.
It will be recalled that Defense Minister Mark Woyongo during his visit to troubled Bimbila directed the Northern Regional Security Council to release the murdered chief’s body for burial on Thursday June 26, 2014.
Earlier, the murdered chief’s family at a news conference in Tamale addressed by Wumbei Dasana Dawuni demanded unconditional release of the remains foir burial.
Two more suspects, a former DCE for Nanumba North, Alhaji Iddrisu Ismail during Rawlings’ regime and one Arthur Naatogmah have been arrested.
