Portugal’s team doctor has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for the game on Thursday against Ghana.

The Portugal captain has been struggling with tendinitis throughout the tournament, which has seen him limp out of several training sessions.

Ronaldo, however, has completed 90 minutes in each of Portugal’s two games so far at the tournament despite fears that he could aggravate the injury.

The two-time world player of the year is expected to start the game against Ghana as well, with Portugal needing a win to stand any chance of progressing from the group.

Henrique Jones believes that Ronaldo is fit to face Ghana and is is in a much better condition than when the team arrived in Brazil.

“He is better than when he arrived in the national team set-up,” Henrique Jones told Publico.

“In medical terms I do not know if he is 100 per cent, but is clinically he is well and is able to compete. He has a little discomfort because of the tendinitis he suffered, but the rest is fine.”

Portugal play the Black Stars on Thursday while Germany face the USA in the other group game, with both games kicking-off at 16:00 GMT.
