That’s eight Premier League wins in a row for Chelsea.
Antonio Conte’s side had to come from behind against Man City after a Gary Cahill own goal gave the hosts a 1-0 half-time lead and they deserved the lead.
However, they were made to pay for their failure in front of goal as Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard ensured the Blues remain on top thanks to excellent breakaways and a non-existent City defence.
To make it worse, Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were both sent off in stoppage time where the players completely lost their cool.
From the start it was end-to-end stuff with Hazard and Aguero probing from distance, while City, focusing their attacks down the right hand side, actually had the ball in the net through Fernandinho, but it was correctly ruled out for offside.
Then it was Chelsea’s turn to have a go and they immediately charged into the opposition half where Hazard rounded Bravo, but there were too many Man City defenders covering and his low cross was dealt with by Aleksander Kolarov.
David Luiz, meanwhile, was lucky to escape without punishment when he deliberately barged Aguero to the floor when the striker was chasing down a loose ball just outside the Chelsea area following a sloppy pass from Azpilicueta.
The end of the half was approaching and City could clearly smell blood and only a block on the six-yard box from Azpilicueta stopped Aguero from making it 1-0.
That continued pressure eventually yielded a goal when Cahill put Jesus Navas’ cross into the top corner of his own net.
A similar pace was set when the teams reappeared for the second half and again, City tore into Chelsea down the right hand side, but again they were wasteful in front of goal. It eventually came back to bite them when Nicolas Otamendi couldn’t deal with Diego Costa and allowed the striker to drill his shot low past Claudio Bravo inside the 18-yard box.
De Bruyne somehow hit the bar inside the six-yard box, Aguero was again denied and after dealing with an Ilkay Gundogan cross in their own penalty area, Chelsea charged forward where Hazard and Costa sliced the City defence apart to play in Willian for the second goal.
And as City desperately looked for an equaliser Chelsea added a third through Hazard where once again the hosts’ defence was all over the place.
By then most of the home support had already left and those who did missed the City players showing some fight, though it was the wrong kind.
Aguero was sent off for fouling Luiz in what was one of the worst tackles in recent memory and in the ensuing scuffle, Fernandinho was red carded for shoving Cesc Fabregas over the advertising hoardings.
