Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has described as unfortunate, allegations by Pressure Group Occupy Ghana that government has entered into a GHc 35 million contract with one of his companies, Anator Holding Company Limited.
Occupy Ghana earlier alleged that government had furtively “entered into a confidential and potentially lucrative agreement with Mr. Woyome, acting through one of his companies, Anator Holding Company Limited.”
The group in a statement noted that Anator Holding is one of the companies that has filed an interpleader suit, claiming to be the owner of two of Woyome’s properties that the Government has finally managed to attach in the execution of the GHc 51 million judgment.
But Anator Holding Company Limited has subsequently issued a statement denying such claims.
A statement signed by Lawyer for the company, Justice Nutifafa Doe said “the project which has taken more than 12 years to incubate is not a contract from government of Ghana to Anator Holding Company Limited.”
“We write to correct the rather unfortunate picture painted by a public enterprise project which will add final processed value to as much of our natural resources as possible,offer millions of job opportunities to Ghanaians and promises to place Ghana firmly in the centre of the global comity of prosperous nations,” the statement added.
The statement further clarified that the project was only introduced to government in 2009 when the latter only saw it as a potential Public Private Partnership (PPP).
“As far back as 2002, Anator Holding company Limited, has led a team of seasoned local and intemational Consultants to think through setting up lndustrialized Green Towns in every district of our dear country. When after the project was introduced to the government of Ghana in 2009, the government saw it as a potential Public Private Partnership and was willing to accept 24% stakeholding in it.”
