A family of five has been burnt to death at Trede near Kumasi in the Ashanti region. Daniel Baafi, his wife Yaa Adu, and their three children – Wofa Yaw, Yaa Kyerewaa and Paa Yaw were completely burnt beyond recognition in the fire outbreak that occurred around 2am Monday.
The one bedroom house which the family occupied was also completely destroyed.
An eyewitness Kofi Owusu Ansah who is a neighbour to the deceased told Peace FM he heard an explosion around 2am and came out to see the house on fire.
He said they heard calls for help but an attempt by neighbours to put out the fire was not successful until fire service personnel arrived at the scene too late to save the family.
He said the family owned the house and had been living in the area in the last three years. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
