A 64-year-old executive committee member of the Convention People’s Party, Mr. Hayford Akrofi was in the early hours of Monday shot dead by two unknown assailants at his residence at Ofankor in Accra.

The assailants who shot Mr. Akrofi twice, were also said to have sexually assaulted his two young relatives who were in the house, located on the Osafan Street.

Family sources suspect the assailants were robbers but were unsure what they were able to take away.

They wore hoods and gloves and escaped after assaulting the ladies and killing the architect, who until his death, was an active member of the CPP.

He lived in the United Kingdom (UK) and relocated to Accra recently.

Mr. Akrofi hails from Tutu-Akwapim in the Eastern Region and left behind a wife and three children who still reside in London.

The body has been taken to the Police Hospital in Accra while police say they have begun investigations into the dastardly act.
