An Accra High Court has abridged the the date for the hearing of the suit by the People’s National Convention (PNC) challenging the disqualification of their presidential candidate, Edward Mahama.
The court presided over by justice Norvisi Afua Aryeni took the decision in order to deal with the PNC’s suit in an expeditious manner due the closeness of the 7th December elections.
The court therefore adjourned the case to the November 4, 2016, where lawyers for both parties will argue their case and a date set for judgment.

[contextly_sidebar id=”PQlWV2OwygrTiBzSBVHMQouJqLSFb6rm”]The PNC on October 28, 2016 filed a suit against the Electoral Commission (EC), praying the court to clear its Flagbearer to contest in the December 7 polls.
The PNC flagbearer, Edward Mahama was disqualified on the grounds that some of the subscribers who endorsed his nomination forms from the regions, forged signatures while others endorsed more than one candidate.
The party’s National Chairman, Bernard Mornah in an earlier interview with Citi News said they will fight the EC with all their might.
“What the presidential candidate has said, is that this is not a matter that should lead us to war but it is a matter that we will fight with all the energies at our commands; spiritually, politically, legally, religiously and what have you.”
The EC has been sued by several of the 13 political parties whose presidential nominees were disqualified from the December 7 race.
