Thousands of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters and sympathisers yesterday [Saturday] walked through some principal streets of Tema for peace ahead of the party’s regional rally.
The Greater Accra Regional NPP will today [Sunday] be organising a regional rally in Tema at the Twediase Park where its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo will introduce the party’s parliamentary candidate in the region and outline the parties plans for the Greater Accra Region.
As part of activities preceding the event, the Tema Central NPP organised a walk to create some awareness and also use the occasion to preach peace ahead of the upcoming elections.
Thousands of party supporters who were in party t-shirts and paraphernalia alongside kalyppo drinks marched through communities 7,8,9,10,11 and 6.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Kofi Brako noted that the walk was to ensure its members were all fit and ready for the regional rally.
He said the walk is also to showcase its numerical strength in the constituency and to send the signals to their opponents that the NPP is still alive and ready to maintain its place in parliament.
“This walk is to promote peace and also to prove to our opponents that the NPP is alive in Tema Central and by far the preferred choice in Tema.”
Mr Brako continued that when voted back into power, the NPP will implement several policies that will be of benefit to most of its constituents and Ghanaians as a whole.
The constituency chairman, Charles Boateng also mocked the Tema Central NDC for having failed to organise a single rally or keep fit due to poor numbers.
“The NDC in Tema Central has been unsuccessful in organising a single major outdoor event because it lacks the numbers. We the NPP on the other hand have organised several and we are challenging them to do same. This morning they also announced a keep fit but upon seeing our numbers they called of theirs. That should tell you we are maintaining this seat come December 7th.”
