Parliament is expected to rise next week Thursday, November 3, 2016 for the December general elections.
This information was laid bare on the floor the house by the Deputy Majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi in his presentation of the scheduled business for Parliament next week.
[contextly_sidebar id=”8f1BBeaiRj1LUiQX85g2DmFRHsYhP5Ex”]According to him, the session was initially expected to end today but has been extended to next week to enable the house deal with critical bills such as the right to Information bill.
Mr. Agbesi however indicated that any unfinished business at the end of the meeting will be carried over after the general elections.
“… The House reconvenes after the general elections to wind up on its mandate before dissolution. The business committee wishes to inform all honourable members that any unfinished business at the end of the 4th week ending Thursday 3rd November 2016 would be carried over to the subsequent sittings after the general elections when the House reconvenes,” he said.
Members of Parliament resumed from break on October 11, 2016 after two months of recess following an order of resumption by the Speaker of Parliament pursuant to Parliament’s standing order 37..
