President John Dramani Mahama wants to give Ghanaian women strong representation in the decision-making process.
He has thus urged voters to vote for more women candidates in this year’s general elections.
President Mahama, who was on a six-day election campaign tour of the Eastern Region, made the appeal when he introduced the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Akuapem South, Ms. Lawrencia Adwoa Dzowonu, to the people at a political rally in Aburi.
[contextly_sidebar id=”6klqnS2ZCUIgDZOq5mYF4kIHdPFOIZPI”]He pointed out that the world over, “women are now no longer standing behind but standing beside their male counterparts for greater success to be achieved”.
He assured the people in the constituency that everything was being done to turn the area into a tourism hub.
His government was looking for a strategic investor to transform the Aburi Botanical Gardens into a major tourism site to boost tourist arrivals.
President Mahama said the state institutions were working hard to attract more tourists to the Aburi Craft Village to stimulate business growth in the area – create wealth and jobs for the people.
He had earlier inspected the recently reconstructed Nsawam-Aburi road and interacted with students of the Adoten Senior High School (SHS).
He also addressed a political rally at Akropong-Akuapem, where he announced that he would soon perform the ceremony to mark the start of commercial oil production at the Sankofa Oil Fields.
It would come with the production of gas that would enable the nation to generate 1,000 megawatts of power daily over the next 20 years.
President Mahama said the country was on course to becoming a net exporter of power by the end of year 2018.
He called for the people to vote massively to renew his government’s mandate in the coming polls.
