891 students matriculate at University of Energy and Natural Resources

A ceremony was held at the University of Energy and Natural Resources’ (UENR) Main Campus on Saturday with 603 Undergraduate Students, 214 Weekend Top-up Students and 74 Postgraduate Students taking the matriculation oath.

In attendance was the Vice Chancellor, Prof Harrison K. Dapaah, Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. E. Opuni Frimpong, Registrar, Mr. A. K. Boateng, Staff and Students of the University.

Prof Dapaah, in his address, welcomed the students into the University.

“…This University is an institution that is poised to be a leader in the educational enterprise through active research, teaching and innovation. I therefore welcome you to the university where we train you to impact on the society with integrity, with service and with excellence.”

“I congratulate you for choosing to study at UENR to enable you to achieve your dream of becoming a skilled professional in the future. From this day going, you shall be ambassadors of this University. I am certainly hopeful that you will associate your name in confidence with UENR and say it with pride. As you begin your studies, you are guaranteed of a friendly academic environment where both teaching and non-teaching staff are dedicated to preparing you for work in the future.”

“My advice to the students is that, they have to be disciplined. They need to be studious and know why they are here. The priority for them being here is to study so they need to study diligently. We also encourage them to study in groups as this will help them share ideas and discuss issues. We also warn them that they should not absent themselves from lectures…” He later added in an exclusive interview with Citi News.

The University of Energy and Natural Resources is Ghana’s first public University in the Brong Ahafo Region.

It was established by an act of parliament (Act 830, 2012) with the core mandate to provide higher education, disseminate knowledge and undertake research related to Energy and Natural Resources.
