Two men have been arrested and detained by the police in Kumasi over the sickening murder of a taxi driver.

Kwaku Poku alias, “Junior”, herbalist, and Kwadwo Kontoh, reportedly after killing Matthew Nkrumah, burned his body, before fleeing with his car.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Yussif Tanko, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, told journalists that the incident happened on October 26, last year.

They had engaged the services of the deceased to carry them in his Dae Matrix taxi from Tanoso in Kumasi to Bokankye in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.

Midway through the journey, they attacked him – stabbing him in many times in the rib with a knife and hit the head with a cement block until he dropped dead.

ASP Tanko said the pair then set the lifeless body on fire and fled with his car.

The car has since been recovered, he said, adding that, they had already confessed to the crime.
