Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has announced that the GETFund has released GHC 50 million for disbursement as feeding grant for teacher trainees in the 38 Colleges of Education across the country.

He said the GETFund has also released an additional GHC 30 million to the Student Loan Trust Fund, an increment of 25 per cent of the previous year’s.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur announced this when he interacted with students and authorities of the Fosu College of Education in the Central Region, as part of his four-day campaign tour of the Region.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said the Ministry of Education had also begun disbursing money to the Colleges of Education.

He said the Government did not only cancel trainee allowance to increase enrollment but also to save money in order to provide adequate infrastructure and the requisite equipment and materials for the colleges to enhance their quality of training.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said job creation and skills training were the utmost focus of President Mahama’s next Government, hence its continuous investments in technical and vocational education.

Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), explained that the NDC Manifesto had detailed policies and programmes for Education; which include the establishment of two technical and vocational colleges of education in Agona Swedru and New Abirem to train teachers.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo, who is also the Director of Elections of the Party, presented a copy of the NDC’s manifesto to the Principal of Fosu College of Education.

Mr Amissah-Arthur and members of his entourage also addressed rallies at Assin Fosu and Assin Praso, and enumerated to the electorate the good work President Mahama had done and the need to retain him for another term.

He introduced the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate, Dr Kofi Blankson, to the people.

He also interacted with the Assin Fosu Traditional Council and inaugurated a Girl’s dormitory for the Obiri Yeboah Senior High School in Assin Fosu.
