The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed power outages in some areas in the Greater Accra region to faulty cables at its Mallam Bulk Supply Point (BSP).

Some parts of Accra have been experiencing power outages in recent times.

[contextly_sidebar id=”XVhI6Y65ioDr8ACDD8Qhlq4FkMfxXU50″]According to the ECG, “there is an interruption in power supply in the western part of Accra due to an accident which led to a cable cut tripping the system at its Mallam Bulk Supply Point (BSP).”

It further indicated that ECG is working “assiduously to restore power as soon as possible” adding that the inconvenience is very much regretted.”

The power crisis intensified in July this year due to limited gas supply from Nigeria.

Though Citi News’ checks revealed that WAPCo suspended gas flow to Ghana over unpaid bills by government, the Petroleum Minister, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Buah explained that gas supply from Nigeria  had been disrupted by terror attacks on the pipelines in the West African country.

The problem was subsequently resolved , following government’s intervention. It is however unclear what this new statement from the ECG implies.

Below is the statement from the ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform its cherished customers that there is an interruption in power supply in the western part of Accra due to an Accident which led to a cable cut tripping the system at its Mallam Bulk Supply Point (BSP).

ECG engineers are working assiduously to restore power as soon as possible.
The inconvenience is very much regretted.
