The incumbent parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom, Bright Kojo Demodzi has hit back at the constituency executives who publicly criticised him over his poor relationship with other executives.
The executive in question, Mawueyram Emmanuel Kojo Asae, was described as an immature politician by Mr. Demodzi on Eyewitness News.
Mr. Asae, the NDC’s Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency Organiser had revealed to Citi News’ Constituency Watch team that there sour relationship between the MP and some of the constituency executives and further highlighted the discontent of the NDC supporters on the ground.
But in response, Mr. Demodzi said, “these are immature politicians, this is a young man [Asae] who I picked from the branch as a branch organizer and I brought him up to the constituency so I call him an immature politician.”
He further explained that if indeed Mr. Asae had any concern, he should have used the appropriate party structures to forward his criticism.
“That is not the way to criticize as constituency leader. That is not the way to criticize because there several platforms available to you as a constituency organizer… For you as a constituency organiser to say this at this particular time whilst you have a lot of avenues for you from the party structure to be able to address your problems. You refuse to take that channel and you go into the media.”
Bortianor NDC supporters threaten skirt and blouse
This constituency is the rural part of Weija and normally a safe seat for the NDC, but complaints of neglect have seen a number of NDC supporters announce the intent to vote out the Mr. Demodzi.
Mr Asae also referenced this when indicated that Mr. Demodzi did not have a good relationship with the people on the ground.
Citi News’ team also spoke to NDC supporters member in the area, and they bemoaned of the increasing disconnect between the MP and the people in the ground.
The candidate with the most to gain from the NDC discontent will be the Progressive People’s Party’s (PPP) Rev. Fred Nii Adjetey Larbie who contested and lost narrowly on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012.
