The Upper West Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Moomin Suleman has appealed to government and all other relevant authorities to address the concerns of striking polytechnic teachers across the country.

In an interview with Citi News, the director said the continuous delay in getting the Polytechnic teachers back to the classroom has put both students and their parents under undue pressure.

This according to him “is impacting negatively on the human resource base of the country and productivity at large”

He added that “the strike is a critical challenge for Ghana because we see vocational educational and technical education as one of the ways of solving youth unemployment in the country .If we as a nation are not working to the system working, it’s not good enough”

Mr. Moomin said as a mandated organization in charge of ensuring youth empowerment, the NYA is very much worried about what he termed “entrenched positions” taken by the polytechnic teachers, government and the National Labour Commission.

He asked; “the problem has come, what is the way forward? What can we do to get things working? Let us talk in a way for people will understand that times are hard.”

He called on all Ghanaians to be patriotic and exhibit high sense of volunteerism to meet the challenging needs of the country or risk the wrath of future generations.
