17 bodies have so far been retrieved from the Volta Lake after a boat  capsized on Saturday.

About 50 passengers were aboard the boat when it capsized of which 20 were children and 30 adults.

The boat was said to be headed for Fetekope from Kete Krachi.

According to NADMO official in the area, they are working frantically to retrieve the remaining bodies.

Recounting the Incident to Citi News, Citi FM’s Volta regional correspondent, Gratham Macintosh noted that, “The children were been sent to the CHIPS compound for weighing while their mothers were heading to the markets when the incident occurred” – he said

He also added that “So far we have been able to remove 7 kids and 2 women were removed on Saturday when the disaster occurred and an additional 8 bodies were retrieved today [7 women and a man].”
