The 10 Regional Chairmen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have called on the party to move the planned date for the election of a presidential candidate to September.
According to the chairmen, this will help reduce the negative attacks that characterize the primaries.
The party, a fortnight ago, announced that it will elect a presidential candidate on December 6, 2014.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwaku Asomah-Kyeremeh told Citi news that the national council should be guided by 2010 precedent, which he believed was impeccable.
He stated that the proximity of the election of a presidential candidate to the elections to select candidates for the district elections was not the best because it takes attention away from the election of the local government representatives.
He believes that the local government representatives could be key in the national election and as such, their influence should not be underestimated.
