The Minister for Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang together with officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service on Monday toured some BECE centres in the Tema Metropolis.

The tour was for the minister to assess the conditions under which the students were writing the exams.

About 420,000 students are said to be taking this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination which started this Monday.

Speaking to Citi News, the public relations officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Charles Parker-Allotey said he was satisfied with the conduct of the examination so far.

“All the logistics, examination materials had been sent there. The candidates were busily writing their exams. So far from the questions that was posed by the minister, it must said that everything is ok”  he said.

“We went to the Tema junior high school where about 200 candidates were writing the exam, there were just a few absentees and then we went to other centers like the Ashaiman senior high school as well as the St. Peters cluster of schools where the minister rounded her tour with a press briefing”  he added.
