A Sasso Insecticide distribution van caught fire on the N1 Highway at the Fiesta Royal intersection on Thursday morning.
An eyewitness who spoke to Citi News reported that, the insecticide canisters inside exploded amidst the combustion of the van.
The eyewitness described “a ball of fire” from where he was standing “with smoke billowing into the sky” leaving the streets littered with empty insecticide cans.
The fire and the resulting canister explosions have left traffic at a standstill as the eyewitness reported that the fire had affected some traffic light systems.
“It is very scary, everybody is running for cover and Fire Service is yet to appear on the scene… it is a very scary sight,” he said of the situation.
The eyewitness was however unable to ascertain what exactly caused the fire.
