The Winneba District Magistrate Court has sentenced a 28-year mason to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing items valued GHC 2,305.00 belonging to a man whose name was given as King Aluta in Winneba.

The convict, Kwabena Ebo, a native of Winneba, pleaded guilty to all the three counts.

The court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae sentenced him on his own plea to run consecutively.

Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the Court that the complainant of the case is Samuel Kow Amankwandor, a taxi driver and a native of Winneba.

He said on September 4, 2016 at about 8:45pm,  the accused went into the house of King Aluta at Sankro, a suburb of Winneba, broke into his room and dishonestly appropriated two double bed mattresses.

Inspector Agbelie said while conveying the items, he was seen by the complainant from a distance and unknown to the accused that he had been seen by the complainant, went into the room for the third time to pick a table top fridge and this time he was caught red-handed by the complainant who handed him over to police patrol team in the area.

The prosecution said the accused led the police to the bush where he hid one of the mattresses.

The accused also informed the police that the second mattress was being kept in the home of one Abeiku who also lived in the Sankro Community.

After investigations, the accused was arraigned before the court charged with the offences, the prosecution said.
