The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has intercepted 329 bags of cocoa beans which were allegedly being smuggled to Togo.

One hundred and forty bags were intercepted on June 12, 2014, at the Hodzo-Alavanyo Border in the Ho municipality by personnel of the Customs Division of the GRA, in collaboration with the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

The second consignment was intercepted on June 10, this year at Leklebi-Duga in the Afadjato-South District.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Ho Sector Commander of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr Confidence Nyadzi, said the consignment was seized last Thursday when the World Cup match between Brazil and Croatia was being played in the night but the suspects managed to run away.

Mr Nyadzi also said the first consignment that was intercepted had been handed over to the Produce Buying Company, and indicated that the second consignment would also be handed over to the company in due course.
