The New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Thursday, September 8, 2016, delivered a lecture on what in his view the state of the Ghanaian economy is.

The lecture, held at the National Theatre, was under the theme, “The state of the Ghanaian economy – A foundation of concrete or straw” and was chaired by former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Dr. Bawumia touched on a wide variety of topics including Ghana’s  International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout programme, a decline in the country’s per capita income, fiscal deficit, infrastructure and agriculture.

He also downplayed President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) supposed  achievements in the last eight years, and rubbished claims by the President that NPP’s election petition after the 2012 polls stalled development.
