A final year student at the fashion Department of the Radford university college has clinched the coveted crown in the maiden edition of the Multi TV award for the best “fashion talent 2016.”

26-year old Nii Adjei Dromo Mensah, shrugged off competition from seven others in the reality show to once again confirm Radford as a university of choice in the fashion industry.

The Executive Chairman of Radford University, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong, and head of fashion department Yvonne Ntiamoah, were unanimous the fashion industry holds a lot of prospects but requires official intervention in the form of protectionist policies to counter dumping.

The fashion industry, they said, has the potential of creating jobs, and explained that employment opportunities exist at each stage of the production chain starting from the cotton farmer all the way through to the end user.

The executive secretary said the economic benefits from exports, while establishing Ghana as an international brand, are all too glaring.

Head of department Yvonne Ntiamoah , recounted the success story of the fashion department.

“We have for the third time running, successfully organized the Radford graduates fashion show, a masterpiece of fashion excellence that has become a permanent feature on the country’s fashion calender”.

Award winner Dromo Mensah was futuristic.  “ I am looking forward to establishing a fashion house after my course and help deepen the understanding and appreciation of fashion. Fashion is integral to our custom, tradition and heritage”.

He commended Multi TV for the ingenuity and encouraged corporate Ghana and multinationals to join the campaign to make the Ghanaian fashion industry competitive and comparable to global standards.

We need to carry fashion to a new level, with all three agreeing the award, is a testimony that the Radford University is an established university committed to excelling in all its unique programs, fashion inclusive.
