Unemployed graduates can apply for recruitment – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has said persons who desire to be engaged as recruits for the December polls can apply at the various regional and district offices across the country.

This follows calls by two groups; the Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana (UGAG) and the Unemployed Teachers Association  asking the EC to consider them as collation officers during the elections.

[contextly_sidebar id=”BmoHSeuteM3H7Kd65XEBoVWRuUHN9m1x”]The groups argued they would be better options instead of employing the services of members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana (ICAG) to collate results per the Commission’s new reforms.

But the EC has maintained that anyone interested in working for the Commission during the polls in any capacity must first apply to be considered.

“There are graduates out there who wish to take part in this exercise if they are not taking part. They should start approaching the EC through the regions… we will engage them,” the Head of Communications at the EC, Eric Dzakpasu said to Citi News.

He noted that the Commission has “always engaged graduates” and that “When you go through all the districts and you go into elections, graduates are all over the place working for the electoral commission and it has been so over the years.”

Given applications, the Unemployed graduates calling out to them will be engaged, according to Mr. Dzakpasu, “especially those who have experience in elections and have been recruited relative to the core competences.”
