Three robbers busted by Teshie Police

Police in Accra have arrested three suspected robbers who were terrorizing residents in the Teshie-Nungua area for months.

The three were arrested last Wednesday when they attempted to escape after robbing an operator of a Forex bureau at Teshie, around the Manna Mission Hospital.

[contextly_sidebar id=”aqQGdR6k3bdjvI8i9FefmwqwFlAjr1yX”]According to the police, the three ambushed their victim, beat him up and robbed him of his personal effects and some amount of money.

“At about 8:30am, the three suspected armed robbers met at Teshie, a suburb of Accra, and conspired to embark on a robbery expedition with two locally manufactured pistols, and a pump action gun met at Fertilizer Road where they laid ambush, opposite Cosmos Forex Bureau,” the Accra Regional Police Commander ACP Timothy Yoosa Bonga.

“When their victim arrived at the forex bureau, they quickly attacked him at gunpoint, subjected him to severe beatings and threats. They forcibly took his mobile phone, two laptops and all the money he carried on him.”

He stated that the suspects who were armed, fired shots which scared the residents chasing them, who then alerted the police.

“While being pursued, they fired shots to disperse the crowd. Police received a distress call and arrived at the scene and commenced a hunt for the suspected robbers”

70 robbers rounded up in Ashanti

This arrest comes after 70 suspected robbers were arrested in a swoop in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, while two others were gunned down in a shootout.

Police said that at least 34 of the suspects were detained following a raid by on their hideouts in and around the region.
