President John Dramani Mahama has left the capital, Accra for  Nairobi in Kenya ahead of the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI).

This year’s Conference, set to commence on Saturday, is the first to be held in Africa and will involve bilateral political dialogue and discussions on boosting the private sector’s role in Africa’s growth agenda.

Heads of State will take part in a special high level engagement with the continent’s private sector and their counterparts from Japan, and also discuss the promotion of structural economic transformation through economic diversification and industrialisation.

President Mahama  is expected to hold talks with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, later on Friday and meet  with the Executive Director of The Global Fund, Mark R. Dybul.

The President is expected back in Accra on Monday.
