C/Regional Social Welfare boss interdicted for alleged fraud

Citifmonline.com has sighted a letter interdicting the Central Regional Director of the Social Welfare Department, for allegedly demanding of bribe of Ghc6,000, for the purposes of expenses on a child to be adopted at the Mother Care Orphanage at Agona Swedru by one Dr. and Mrs Florian Carl.

Mr. Jonathan Gyau has by the interdiction been asked to step aside to allow for investigations into his alleged misconduct.

Whiles serving the interdiction, the letter stated, that he would only be entitled to 50% of his salary.

The letter from the Local Government Service Secretariat, signed by Joseph M. Dasanah, Head of Service, was addressed to the Central Regional Coordinating Council, and the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur.

The letter dated August 23, 2016, said “Your alleged behaviour in this act is not only unprofessional but also in breach of Chapter 8.3 (vi,xii, xiii) and 8.4 ( a & d) of the conditions of service of the Local Government Service.”

“In view of the above, you are hereby interdicted with immediate effect to enable the service investigate the matter to establish its veracity or otherwise. Whilst on interdiction, you are entitled to receive 50% of your salary.”

“By a copy of this letter, the Central Regional Coordinating Council is directed to investigate your alleged misconduct and report same to the office of the Head of Service within a fortnight from the date of this letter.”
