President John Dramani Mahama, has upon the recommendations of the Police Council, promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr. Ransford Ninson and Mrs. Beatrice Vib-Sanziri to the rank of Commissioner of Police (COP) with effect from 1st August 2016.
COP/Mr. Ransford Ninson is currently the Director-General Administration whilst COP/Mrs. Beatrice Vib-Sanziri is the current Director-General Human Resource Development.
With this promotion, COP Beatrice Vib-Sanziri becomes the second serving female Commissioner of Police, after COP Rose Bio Atinga.
However, COP. Beatrice Vib-Sanziri becomes the fifth ever woman Commissioner of Police in the history of the Ghana Police Service.
Meanwhile the Volta Regional Police Commander, ACP Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe has also been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from 1st August 2016.
