Ahead of its 60th anniversary celebration as an academic institution, the North American branch of the Kumasi Academy old students’ association will this month bring members to New York, for its fund raising and dinner dance event.

The program, slated for Saturday August 27 at the Radisson JFK Hotel in Queens, New York, is the second of its kind.

The leadership of the association is determined to raise money to build a multi-purpose science laboratory for the students. Past students from as far back as the 1960s until now are expected to attend the program.

Similar fund-raising event enabled the association to complete the initial phase of the project beginning from the foundation and ground filling level. In order to fulfill the objective and ensure the project is not abandoned, the association has appealed to old students especially in North America to donate $100 each towards the campaign.

Ticket for the event is between $100 per person and $170 for a couple. There will be school souvenirs like polo T-shirts for $20. Those unable to make it are encouraged to visit the association’s website www.kumacausa.org, and pay the amount of $100.

Events of such magnitude create the platform for friends to rekindle their relationship, network and create business opportunities, and the leadership is hopeful those attending will take advantage of that.
