Minority Spokesperson on Environment, Science and Technology, Francis Addai Nimoh has urged government to take advantage of the global Climate Change Fund to offset the ramifications of climate change.
Speaking to Citi News, Francis Addai Nimoh said that Ghana can tap into the global fund to develop the country’s renewable energy sector but will have to implement criteria set out by the fund.

If we are going to access it for energy production in the renewable areas like hydro or wind or solar, the requirement would be have you done A? Have you done B? Have you done C?” he said.
The Minority Spokesperson told Citi News that the country is committed to meeting the criteria of the fund and has already laid down the framework for renewable energy development.
“In the energy sector, we have already passed the Renewable Energy Act. What it required is the investment that should ensure that we tap into the potentials of renewable sources of energy in this country.” he said.
The Green Climate Change fund is a multi-lateral financial entity within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCC), to assist projects and programs within developing countries to combat climate change.
Climate change impacting Ghana’s poverty reduction strategy-Ayariga
Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariba says the country’s poverty reduction efforts will prove futile if climate change is not tackled head on.
He decried the impact of global warming on food security especially in Northern Ghana where poverty is endemic and thus called for combined efforts to combat the phenomenon.
