Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Dramani Mahama, will kick start his campaign for re-election in the Western Region today [Tuesday].

The campaign will see the President visit markets, schools and a number of government projects in the region as he tries to convince Ghanaians to give him a second term.

President Mahama’s visit to the region comes right after the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, ended a five-day campaign tour of the region.

His first stop on the campaign trail will be at Agona Nkwanta and he is expected to grace the national fisheries grand durbar at Axim later in the day.

President Mahama’s campaign comes a day after the party officially launched its campaign in the Central Region.

The National Campaign Coordinator for the party, Kofi Adams expressed confidence that the President has done enough to win another term in office.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Adams said, “for the transformation agenda to succeed, you need a transformational leader, for sustainable development to go on, you need John Dramani Mahama… We are looking at growth that is supported with transformation.”

“Of course we don’t think that the elections would be a walkover but we believe that we have done a lot. We have done so much that we are going to win this election.”

2016 won’t be easy; don’t underestimate NPP – Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings and founding father of the incumbent NDC, cautioned his party against the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Campaign launch.
