Airtel Ghana, Best CSR Company for Education and Community Relations has donated branded school bags and stationery to over 150 pupils of Dantoyili Primary School in the Tamale metropolis of the Northern Region.
The donation was in line with Airtel Ghana’s employee-driven ‘Make Your Change’ initiative through which the company supports initiatives proposed by employees to make a difference in their communities.
Speaking at the school during the donation exercise, Maame Dufie Cudjoe, CSR manager at Airtel Ghana said, “This is an employee led and company supported initiative to empower our employees to be the change in their communities through various initiatives. Make Your Change is a call to action for our employees to nominate projects within their communities for support across our CSR focus areas which cuts across education, empowerment, sports amongst others.
Specifically in relation to education, we have over the years supported several projects across the country in infrastructure development, capacity building and donation of teaching and learning materials”.
She continued “This school was nominated by one of our employees and today’s donation is in fulfilment of our commitment to this cause”.
Headmaster of the school, Ahmed Mohammed expressed his profound gratitude to Airtel Ghana for the kind gesture to the pupils “the smiles of appreciation on the faces of the pupils are evidence of how grateful they are for this donation. On behalf of the teaching body, thank you for your kind donation”.
Airtel continues to support initiatives of its employees in several empowerment oriented and community based initiatives which have and continues to make a difference in the lives of beneficiaries.
