Traders at Roman Hill, a suburb of Kumasi, have besieged the premises of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) office in Ashtown  in the Ashanti Region, to protest the Authority’s decision to lock up their shops.

According to Citi News’ Ashanti Regional correspondent, Hawa Iddrisu, over 100 shops were locked up by the GRA because traders have failed to pay Value Added Tax (VAT) for the past two years.

She said the traders, who were clad in red and black, were chanting war songs.

She said security personnel were later sent to the area to restore calm.

The traders reportedly embarked on a similar exercise on Thursday.
